About Us

What is NACPRO?

The National Association of County Park and Recreation Officials is a non-profit professional organization that advances official policies that promote county and regional park and recreation issues while providing members with opportunities to network, exchange ideas and best practices, and enhance professional development.

NACPRO is an affiliate of the National Association of Counties (NACo) and the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA).

Legislative Platform

NACPRO, as an affiliate of both NRPA and NACo, has the opportunity to influence the legislative agendas of these organizations.  We consider legislative concerns of county and special district park and recreation agencies and make sure these interests are represented through the lobbying strength of the larger NRPA and NACo organizations.

Among NACPRO’s major areas of concern are:  LWCF, UPARR, RTCA, CDBG, children and nature initiatives, natural resources preservation programs, and funding for physical activity and nutrition promotion programs. The NACPRO Board of Directors invites all members to review and utilize the NACPRO Legislative Agenda (updated March 27, 2017).

The NACPRO Board sent a letter stating NACPRO's position on the LWCF Reauthorization on March 30, 2015, which was mailed to Chairman Rob Bishop and Representative Raul Grijalva.

The NACPRO Board sent a letter expressing support for the RPPA Commercial Recreation Concessions Pilot Program Act on March 17, 2017, which was mailed to Senator Jeff Flake.
